If for some reason you found my blog and are about to read it, let me tell you a bit about how this blog came to be. Like many thousands of young students and workers, I am an aspiring journalist, and if you follow me on my blog you will read about my journey into becoming a world class celebrity journalist. Yes, I know I am not one yet and there is a slight possibilty that I may not achieve this goal but if you're really passionate about something, that is not the attitude to possess, be like the Yes Man!
I am going to be writing every week on Thursday's to update you on my journey because when I become well known in the celebrity industry I want to look back at this and think, wow I was right. There is not one single person out there as awsome as me. Of course at the time I say this I would probably be snuggling next to Jared Padalecki while I'm on my iPhone20. Life will be gooooood.
If you read this I would much appreciate it if you could comment and tell me what I'm doing wrong. Please. If you do I'll give you an in with lady gaga when we become best buds so, I'm pretty sure you've got the long end of the stick.
Lets begin...
I started my much addicting love for journalism when I decided to take a TAFE course during highschool, for those of you not living in Australia it's kind of a side class we do outside of highschool but means we get to drop a class. I hated highschool so I was pretty desperate to get into any class in TAFE (Technical and further Education) which is a college kind of school. Kind of. I actually wanted to get into phsycology which I thought would be an easy career to pursue, obviously not but back then all I wanted to do was choose an easy and safe career path, study it in university, marry someone rich in university and become a house mum. There were none available so I kept looking and found Media Journalism. I went to the classes, made a few friends and found I actually liked it. Not only did I like it, I was good at it so there it is. My career. I know I'm young and I'm making all the worst mistakes in writing but I'll learn. Hopefully in university.
Which brings me to my current obstacle:Making it into uni. Last year in highschool my grades weren't up to scratch and I hardly did any extra curricular activities so my university application looked like ...crap. Thats why this year I'm about to change all that.
I've got my own radio show-which by the way if you want to have one all you have to do is contact your local radio station. Most of the time they need people because most of the time they don't offer pay but if you want to become a journalist or radio host or something along those lines, experience is key!
Also, I'm studying a cert IV in TAFE at the moment which can get you to most universities.
Right now I'm looking for work experience, if for some wierd reason an actual journalist is reading this, not only would I be mind blown but feel free to give this desperate wannabe journalist a free job.
I am hoping to score some work experience with the big guys (channel 9, Today FM, daily telegraph) but if not I'll go local. Also I'm going to be volunteering with a local charity and asking them if I could write articles for thier events and if they like my article I'll send it to the local newspaper and if THEY like it ... that would be the top of the iceberg on my application. Please universities pick me! I'm trying so hard!
And trust me I'm pretty sure I'm doing all the right things because I went to a careers councilor and they helped me out. If you have not seen a guidance councilor-go see one! They are the best help!
Tomorrow I'll be ringing up universities to ask a few questions so I can be able to choose my preferences and work hard to getting into one.
Wish me luck!
Please comment. Say something, anything. Say I suck or say you'll hire me, just say something!
OK, I'm going.
